Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) announces that 42 of its 60 eligible schools “beat the odds” by surpassing their predicted score on the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) last year.  This translates to 70 percent of campuses earning this distinction.

Only Cobb County had a higher percentage of its schools (81 percent) among the six largest districts statewide. CCPS reported a nine (9) school improvement over the 33 that “beat the odds” the year before. The 42 schools represent the sixth highest number statewide.

“These results, showing a steady improvement over the previous year, are evidence that we are on the right path to providing an education for the children of Clayton County that will make them college and career ready,” said Dr. Morcease J. Beasley, CCPS Superintendent of Schools. “I commend the district’s students and employees for embracing our commitment to high performance.”

Recently released by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) and based on Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) data, the Beating the Odds analysis predicts a score range for each school by taking into account school size, student mobility, demographics and other factors.
“While we are proud of the schools that have earned this status, we are fully aware that our work is not done,” Beasley said. “We will continue to implement and enhance our instructional strategies that are grounded in Literacy, Numeracy, Critical Thinking and Technology Integration.”

“With this focus on teaching our children, I am confident that our district will continue to improve as we target a 100 percent success rate for our schools,” he added.
