Beats Scientist (Grades 6-8)

BEAT Scientists (6-8) is a program designed to provide students grade 6-8 with an understanding of technology and new opportunities in music, sound and engineering. This program will provide students with exposure to understanding electromagnetic and mechanical sound. Students will also be exposed to sound concepts surrounding statistics, probability and functions. BEAT SCIENTISTS will give students a basic understanding of sound and how to use technology and science to produce and manipulate it through today’s technological advancements and software. This program will show how music is driven by mathematics, which defines tempo, measure, time signatures, and harmonic structures. Sound is simply a wave just like light and is controlled by physics. Presenting the science of sound will give students a unique perspective when creating music through the use of computer software technology.
