Melissa Sloan

msloanMelissa A. Sloan has been an educator for the past 16 years. Melissa received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Dayton in 1997. Next, she completed her Master of Education at the University of Cincinnati in 2001. Recently, she finished her Educational Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University in 2010. Before joining the Professional Learning department as a Teacher Development Specialist, Melissa taught in an elementary school in Cincinnati, Ohio for six years before moving to Atlanta. Melissa has been employed with Clayton County Public Schools for the past 10 years, during which she has worked as an elementary school teacher at Lake City Elementary, district level elementary science facilitator and facilitator at Kendrick Middle School. Melissa was selected as Teacher of the Year at Lake City Elementary in 2007 and 2012. She was selected as Clayton County District Teacher of the Year in 2012. Melissa is now a Teacher Development Specialist with the Teacher Academy of Preparation and Pedagogy. Her job includes mentoring TAPP teachers, teaching class, and providing professional development opportunities to schools.
