American Rescue Plan Act
In March 2021, the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act was signed into law, dedicating funds for K-12 schools through the Elementary and Secondary School Education Relief (ESSER) III funds. As a result, Clayton County Public Schools will receive just over $100 million through the ARP ESSER III program to be expended prior to September 30, 2024.

The purpose of these federal funds is to help sustain the safe and effective operations of our schools and address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our students and staff. Additionally, at least 20% of the funds received must be used to address student learning loss, mental health, and the impact of COVID-19 on underrepresented student subgroups (e.g., racial/ethnic groups, gender, students from low-income families, students with disabilities, English learners, migrant students, students experiencing homelessness, and students in foster care). The district is planning to utilize funding to address several critical areas, including academic acceleration and interventions, student and staff health and well-being, social and emotional learning, and continuity of educational services and staff.

We are soliciting your input on the development of our plan to support our students and staff with the funds received through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Your input is an essential part of the district’s planning process to reopen our schools for the safe return of our students and staff and plan for the upcoming years.

Thank you for sharing your valuable input on the district’s plan.
