Reminder: CCPS 2020 Millage Rate/Called Board Meeting - Agenda for August 6

The Clayton County Board of Education (CCBOE) has announced its intention to maintain the current millage rate at 20 mills which will result in an increase of the 2020 property taxes levied this year by 3.03 percent over the rollback millage rate. The Board’s action is the result of a reassessment of the county’s property and is needed to provide revenue support for the FY2021 Budget at 20 mills.

All concerned citizens are invited to participate in the public hearing on the proposed tax increase on  Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. The public hearing will be virtual using video-conferencing technology. Public comments on the proposed tax increase should be submitted in email format to the following address: [email protected]Stakeholders submitting comments should include a name and contact phone number or email address. Comments for this public hearing should be submitted by 5:45 p.m. on August 6. All comments received by the indicated deadline will be read into the record of the hearing.

The Clayton County Board of Education is expected to set the 2020 Millage Rate during a called Board meeting on August 6, 2020. The meeting is scheduled to begin following the third public hearing.   District and community stakeholders will be able to follow the meeting by going to the district’s website at www.clayton.k12.ga.us and clicking on the Board Meeting graphic on the home page’s scrolling banner. This will connect stakeholders to the virtual meeting.  

Individuals who are unable to participate in the meeting will be able to access the recorded meeting on the district’s official platforms (websiteFacebookTwitterYoutube, and Channel 24, which is available to Clayton County Comcast subscribers only) following the meeting.
