District Eight

Four Year Term: January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2022

Dr. Alieka Anderson was elected to the Clayton County Board of Education by the people of District 8, in July of 2008. Dr. Anderson served as Board Chair from September 2008 through December 2010. Dr. Anderson holds a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Brenau University. She also holds a Master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Central Michigan University and an Educational Specialist's degree in educational leadership (K-12) from Argosy University. She earned her Doctorial degree in educational leadership (K-12) at Argosy University in 2010.

Dr. Anderson is a teacher in the DeKalb County School System and a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars. Dr. Anderson's motto is "train a child in the way he should go, and when he gets older he will not depart from it." Ms. Anderson embellishes this biblical proverb because she believes that education starts at home and that through a positive link between home and school our children can grow up to become productive citizens in our ever-changing society.

Dr. Anderson is a member of Shekinah Glory Full Gospel Church. She is a single parent and has one son, Brian Covington Jr.
