Dr. Avery Kenly

Dr. Avery Kenly
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Avery D. Kenly is currently the Coordinating Supervisor of Professional Learning with the Clayton County Public School System (CCPS) located in Jonesboro, Georgia. Within this position, he helps oversee professional learning for the school district. Given his dedication and service to the more than 55,000 students and staff members of CCPS, Dr. Kenly was named as the district’s Certified Support Professional of the Year in 2017.
Dr. Kenly previously served the district as a Teacher Development Specialist and prior to that appointment worked as an Instructional Facilitator for the CCPS Open Campus High School and the Alternative Middle and High Schools. He began his teaching career as a special education and math teacher at Riverdale High School receiving the honor of being named Teacher of the Year in 2013.
Dr. Kenly earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida A&M University, Educational Certification in Special Education and Secondary Math (6-12) from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree in Teaching Skills and Methodologies from Cambridge College, an Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University and a Doctorate Degree in Leadership, Policy, and Organizations from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Kenly is also a licensed trainer in Restorative Practices and Conferencing.
Dr. Kenly is a life-long member of the Warren United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia having served as a member of the Board of Trustees and the United Methodist Men. As he is actively involved in several community organizations, Dr. Kenly serves as the Director of Student Recruitment for the CodeHouse organization. He also holds membership in several professional, service, and fraternal organizations including the Florida A&M University National Alumni Association (life member), Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated (life member), Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity (life member), Tri-M Music Honor Society, National Educators Association, Georgia Educators Association, Clayton County Educators Association, National Association of Black Male Educators, and Learning Forward – Professional Learning Association. Dr. Kenly is married and a proud #girldad.
