Dr. Gloria Duncan

Dr. Gloria Duncan grew up in Birmingham, Alabama where she attended Elementary and High School. Upon graduation from high school, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she graduated from Spelman College with a BA in English and Secondary Education. She began her career as an educator in the Clayton County Public School System as a 7th Grade English teacher and English Department Chair where she served for 12 years.

Dr. Duncan continued her Education and received a Master of Education Degree in Educational Psychology from the State University of West Georgia. She later added on a Master of Education Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision at Georgia State University. Dr. Duncan received her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

During her career in education, she has also served as and Instructional Lead Teacher, a middle school Assistant Principal and both a Middle School and High School Principal. She has served as a Graduate Education Instructor for Teacher Education at Mercer University and a Graduate Education Instructor in Educational Leadership for the University of West Georgia. She served as the Interim Superintendent for Clayton County Public School System and currently works in the Professional Learning Department.

Dr. Duncan is the recipient of numerous awards including Teacher of the Year, the NAACP Image Award in Education, Who's Who Among American Female Executives, Outstanding Georgia Citizen awarded by the Secretary of State, Outstanding Educator and Community Worker awarded by the Georgia General Assembly, and Outstanding Leaders in Clayton County awarded during Women's History Month. She is affiliated with many professional and civic organizations including Vice President of the 100 Black Women MECCA Chapter, Vice President of the Arnold Fountain Professional Club, The Georgia Association of Educators, the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders, the National Staff Development Council/ Learning Forward, and a member of Divine Faith Ministries International.

Dr. Duncan is the product of 3 generations of only girls and is the proud mother of one daughter, Joy. She prides herself in her commitment to education and her love for children.
