Shelby Stewart was born in Atlanta and raised on the south side of town. Of course, he supports all of Atlanta’s sports teams. In 2012, he graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in history.

Mr. Stewart commenced his educational experience in 2014, teaching young scholars at Kemp Primary School. He served at the school for nine years in various roles ranging from paraprofessional to literacy coach. His passion for helping children learn to read began as a kindergarten paraprofessional. Subsequently, he gained certification in Early Childhood Education through the Clayton County Public Schools TAPP program in 2017. After graduating from the TAPP program and receiving his reading endorsement, his passion for literacy ignited an intense fire. He frequently spread his enthusiasm for literacy to each K-2 scholar he taught and to each educator he served. In 2019, he began training and supporting teachers around the district when he became a Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) district facilitator. In 2022, Mr. Stewart graduated from the American College of Education with a master’s degree in literacy. He served as a literacy coach and ELA curriculum writer.

Mr. Stewart is a Teacher Development Specialist and an instructor for the Teacher Support and Coaching endorsement. He routinely supports new and veteran educators through professional development classes, literacy conferences, school-based workshops, and one-on-one coaching sessions.
