SCHOOL CONNECTEDNESS PROGRAM

SCHOOL CONNECTEDNESS

Dr. Terri Wright

what is school connectedness?

School Connectedness is the belief by students that adults and peers in the school care about their

learning as well as about them as individuals.  Students who feel connected to their school are also

more likely to have better academic achievement, including higher grades and test scores, have

better school attendance, and stay in school longer.  The ongoing engagement of families,

communities, and scholars help to create a caring and supportive environment suitable for school

connectedness

The School Connectedness Program is  part of the CCPS' efforts to foster School Connectedness, Build Resilience and Improve Student Behavior. The program has five  critical features:

      ccps cab challenge

The  CAB Challenge Program is part of the District’s efforts to foster

school connectedness by establishing a formal structure that will ensure

that each scholar is connected to a Caring Adult in the Building (CAB).

School connectedness is the belief held by students that the adults and

peers in their schools care about their learning as well as about them as

individuals (Center for Disease Control- CDC).  At the heart of school

connectedness is the healthy  relationship developed

between staff and scholars.

You may truly love your child, but unless she feels it—unless you speak the love language that communicates to her your love—she will not feel loved.”
