Clayton County Public Schools is proud to announce for the second consecutive year, G.W. Northcutt Elementary School located in College Park, holds the title as the 2023 Literacy Bowl National Champions. Northcutt earned the title during the Fifth Annual Imagine Learning Literacy Bowl competition. The multi-week competition uses the highest average time per active user to determine the overall champ. For the second straight year, Northcutt defeated Abraham Lincoln Middle School of the Selma Unified School District in California in the final round. 

“It gives me great pleasure to congratulate the school’s English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teachers Ms. Audrey McGhee and Dr. Carol Jones, and the remaining staff of G.W. Northcutt Elementary School, led by Principal Arlando Dawson, on this extra special achievement,” said Dr. Anthony W. Smith, Interim Superintendent of Schools. “I thank them for bringing national recognition to their students, their school and our district.”

Northcutt Elementary will host the National Imagine Literacy Bowl award celebration, scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, that will include top classroom and student recognition. The school will receive a $250 school supply gift card and the National Imagine Literacy Bowl trophy.
