Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) strives to improve mental health by offering support to students and staff throughout the academic school year. As we know, mental health and wellness is ongoing and impacts our students and parents daily. Our goal is to eliminate barriers to student academic success. This happens by implementing district policies, and procedures, collaborating with families, advocating for homeless/at-risk youth, and providing mental health interventions and grief support during times of crisis. Educating the scholars, staff, and families on mental health is a key component to creating a safe and healthy learning environment.

This year Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary and West Clayton Elementary are hosting Mental Health Town Halls to help encourage families to seek support for their scholars and themselves. The Town Halls will consist of a mental health panel of Morehouse School of Medicine psychiatrists, therapists, CCPS SPARK providers, and the honorable Judge Salvia Fox and Judge Leslie Miller Terry.  Understanding mental health will help our families better advocate for themselves as it pertains to mental health and locating resources. Through this town hall, West Clayton and King Elementary School families will gain support towards understanding mental health.
