
The Department of Mental Health and WellBeing provides high level oversight of district functions related to the allocation of mental health services through the CCPS mental health model which is a community collaborative model. The Department provides a central point of focus for district efforts to implement Psychological Services, the Student Support Team, and Section 504 processes as well. It is also home to the Students Against Destructive Decision Grant.
School Psychologists work within a school setting to promote
the psychological, cognitive, social, and behavioral health needs of students.
They collaborate with educators and other professionals to create positive,
healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections
between home and school. School Psychologists develop programs to train school
personnel regarding educational and learning strategies; discipline and
behavior management; and proactive strategies for working with children who
have special needs. Additionally, School Psychologists provide a continuum of
services that include consultation with parents, teachers, and administrators;
comprehensive psychological assessments; creating prevention and intervention
strategies to address group or individual student needs within the classroom;
crisis management; and collaboration with stakeholders and community groups to
promote healthy development in youth.

counseling resources
School Psychologists Work with Families to:

Assist
parents with understanding the Student Support Team and Section 504 processes

Recommend
practical strategies to assist parents with children academically or behaviorally
School
Psychologists Work with Administrators and Teachers to:

Develop
and provide in-service and educational presentations at school and system
levels
·
Assist
in analyzing data related to school improvement, student outcomes, and accountability
· Provide effective academic and behavioral strategies and interventions
· Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations
· Offer practical and appropriate research and evidence based interventions
· Provide consultation and guidance on utilizing interventions and progress monitoring within RtI framework
School
Psychologists Work with Community Providers to:

Assist
teacher, administrators, and parents in addressing the needs of students transitioning
from a community setting
·
Serve
on teams designed to foster collaboration with the community agencies
