Mr. Lonnie Farmer

Lonnie Farmer is originally from Wilson, North Carolina and has twenty-three years of experience in education. He earned his Bachelor of Science from East Carolina University in Exercise and Sports Science (teacher preparatory track) with a focus on Child Development and Family Relationships in 1999. While completing the undergraduate program, Mr. Farmer began his teaching career as a substitute Math teacher at Ralph L. Fike High School.

After graduating from East Carolina, Mr. Farmer moved to Georgia and began teaching elementary Physical Education and coaching junior varsity basketball in Fayette County Public Schools. After two years of teaching and coaching in Fayette County, Mr. Farmer transitioned to Mundy’s Mill High School in Clayton County Public Schools. While teaching Physical Education and Health, coaching basketball and coaching track at Mundy’s Mill High School, Mr. Farmer earned a Master of Science in Education from Walden University.  Mr. Farmer then went on to teach at Forest Park High School to teach Special Education Math, serve as In-School Suspension instructor, coached varsity boys basketball coach and junior varsity volleyball. During his time at Forest Park High School, Mr. Farmer earned an Educational Specialist degree from Jacksonville State University. Mr. Farmer then returned to Mundy’s Mill High School to teach and coach varsity girls’ basketball where he then earned his Educational Leadership - Tier II Certification from West Georgia University.

After earning his leadership certification, Mr. Farmer began his administration career as an assistant principal at Riverdale High School for three years. Mr. Farmer then transferred to North Clayton High School where he was promoted to principal the following school year. Four years later, Mr. Farmer transferred to the principal position at Lovejoy Middle School and remained there until the school was closed and merged into Eddie White Middle School. As principal, Mr. Farmer oversaw the merger of Lovejoy Middle School into Eddie White Middle School.

After serving as principal at Eddie Middle School for a year and a half, Mr. Farmer was promoted to Interim Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership and Improvement for Clayton County Public Schools. As one of four assistant superintendents, Mr. Farmer serves Cluster B schools.
