Dr. Tim Guiney

Tim Guiney has over 20 years of experience in public education. Dr. Guiney began his career as an English Language Arts (ELA) teacher at Morrow High School, where he also coached, mentored teachers, taught Journalism, and sponsored the Yearbook. During his time at Morrow High School, Dr. Guiney earned his Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia (UWG). He later returned to UWG earning Specialist and Doctoral degrees in 2010 and 2018 respectively.  

In 2007, Dr. Guiney was hired as an assistant principal at Adamson Middle School. He excelled in that role and was appointed principal of Adamson in July of 2010. During his time at Adamson, the school received a variety of recognitions including Title I School of Distinction, Model PTSA, while also improving student achievement each year. In 2013, Dr. Guiney was recognized as the CCPS Principal of the Year before departing for Grady High School in 2014.

During his time at Grady, Dr. Guiney successfully led the Grady Cluster schools through the Strategic Planning process as the district transitioned to become a Charter District. In addition, the school increased its graduation rate, improved AP enrollment and achievement, while earning several AP Merit and AP Achievement recognitions. He also led the application and eventual rollout when the school received certification as an AP Capstone School.  

In 2016, Dr. Guiney returned to Clayton County as an Assistant Superintendent. For the last six years, Dr. Guiney has led Cluster A, one of four clusters in CCPS. He has worked tirelessly to support leaders and schools in their strategic improvement efforts. Dr. Guiney firmly believes in our students and that we can collectively improve outcomes in CCPS stating that, “We are the architects of building a better tomorrow, today!”
