Parental Involvement means the participation of parents in regular, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities. The involvement includes ensuring that parents play an integral role in assisting their child's learning, that parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education at school, that parents are full partners in their child's education and are included, as appropriate, in decision making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child.


The benefits of parental involvement for students include:

  • Better attendance.
  • Higher achievement
  • Higher grades and test scores, and enrollment in higher-level programs. 

The benefits of parental involvement for parents include:

  • A deeper understanding of educational programs and how schools operate.
  • Increased confidence in their ability to help their children learn at home.
  • Increased support for their children.

The benefits of parental involvement for teachers, administrators, and schools include:

  • Higher student achievement.
  • Increased student attendance.
  • A network of supportive parents and communities. 

Title I & Parental Involvement

In accordance with Title I, Part A, Clayton County Public Schools offers parents:

  • District and school-level parental involvement policies.
  • Parent, Teacher, and Student Compacts.
  • Materials and/or resources to help parents work with their children.

Parent training that includes the understanding of:

  • The Georgia Standards of Excellence
  • State and local assessments.
  • The requirements of Title I and its programs.
  • College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI)
  • Monitor your child's progress and work with teachers to improve their academic achievement.
  • The components and instructional strategies of Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading.
