     Jasmine Bowles graduated from Lovejoy High School and is a proud product of Clayton County Public Schools. During high school, she traveled to China as a People to People Student Ambassador and received her real estate license during the summer between high school and college. In 2008, she studied at The University of Cape Town and taught in Khayelitsha, Cape Town’s largest township.  After earning her Bachelor’s of Arts from Emory University in 2010 (English; African Studies), she received her Master’s of Science in Education in Education & Social Change from the University of Miami in 2012.

Since joining Teach for America as a Miami-Dade corps member in 2010, Ms. Bowles has helped to develop over 1,000 students and teachers along the East Coast. She has served as a teacher, math & science coach, curriculum specialist, adjunct professor, community organizer, and board member in Miami, New Orleans, and Atlanta. In 2016, Ms. Bowles founded PROOF Inc. on the Southside of Atlanta, a value-driven intergenerational ecosystem for problem solvers. PROOF is an acronym for Plans, Resources, & Opportunities for Organized Freedom.

Her time as an educator ultimately led her to run for public office in 2016 and 2018. She was elected to the Clayton County Public School Board on May 22, 2018 and was formally sworn-in on January 7, 2019.
