On Monday, October 4, Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) Superintendent/CEO Dr. Morcease J. Beasley joined with the Clayton County Board of Education (CCBOE) in recognizing Kamaria Warren, an 8th-grade student at Rex Mill Middle School, who served as the Keynote Speaker for the International Summit of Entrepreneurship for Children and Youth. With over 300 students from the country of Columbia and from around the world, Miss Warren’s keynote address, "From Passion to Profit,” was designed to encourage the youth participants to follow their passions and talents in life. The International Summit of Child and Youth Entrepreneurship Colombia is an event that brings together Colombian and foreign children and youth with the aim of sharing their entrepreneurship projects, motivating their entrepreneurial spirit, learning from other initiatives, among other activities.
In addition, the Board and Superintendent honored the Forest Park High School PTSA for earning a multitude of awards and recognitions since its inception. These commendations include the 2017 Phoebe Apperson Hearst award (recognized as the 2nd best PTA in the country), multiple Community Partners Awards (bringing in more than 30 businesses and community stakeholders as full members), multiple Oak Tree Awards (schools with 100 percent administration and staff membership), as well as three consecutive School of Excellence Awards covering a period from 2017 through 2022.
As recognitions continued, Elite Scholars Academy and Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts were commended as each earned a 2021 College Success Award from GreatSchools recognizing a school’s excellence in preparing students for college and beyond. Furthermore, GreatSchools has selected Elite Scholars and Stilwell School of the Arts as being among the 1,770 schools from across the nation to earn the inaugural College Success Award - Gold. Created as part of the ongoing GreatSchools College Success Award, this recognition is considered an additional, elevated level of distinction honoring schools that have a multi-year track record of college success, as determined by available college preparation and postsecondary data. In addition, Elite Scholars Academy has been named the 2022 Top Niche Standout School in the Atlanta area and is the 2nd ranked Niche Standout School in the State of Georgia by Niche! In addition, Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts has been named the 6th ranked Niche Standout School in the State of Georgia!
The final recognition of the meeting was for Elite Scholars Academy! Elite Scholars Academy has been recognized as an Exemplary High Performing Schools National Blue Ribbon School for 2021 by the U. S. Secretary of Education! This is the second National Blue Ribbon distinction earned by ESA. The first came in 2014. Elite Scholars Academy is one of nine schools in Georgia to earn the Blue Ribbon designation for 2021. A total of 325 elementary and secondary level public and private schools were named as part of the 2021 National Blue Ribbon Schools Program.
This is also the second consecutive year that a CCPS school has been designated a National Blue Ribbon School. Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts earned this distinction in 2020.
