CCPS Advisory

August 2, 2019

JONESBORO – On Monday, August 5, schools across the Clayton County Public Schools district will welcome students to begin the 2019-2020 school year. A special feature of the district’s opening day celebration is the welcome that all students will receive as school and community volunteers have been invited by school principals to join with district staff in greeting students as they return to the classroom. Please see the following school start times.

Elementary Schools - 7:45 a.m.
Middle Schools - 8:45 a.m.
High Schools - 8:20 a.m.

The district is encouraging parents/guardians to ensure a 100 percent attendance rate for opening day by getting all enrolled students in their seats ready to learn for 180 days. “Our school facilities and our employees are ready for the new school year,” said CCPS Superintendent/CEO Dr. Morcease J. Beasley. “We are expecting that our over 55,000 students will be in school ready to learn and our nearly 3,500 teachers will be in their classrooms ready to teach.”

“We ask everyone driving on and around our school campuses and school zones to be extra cautious and patient on August 5 and every day thereafter as the county’s children travel to and from school,” Dr. Beasley added. “This request for driver caution extends to our buses as they complete their routes and to our bus stops.”

As a reminder, in the 2019-2020 school year, Clayton County Public Schools will utilize the Edulog Parent Portal Bus Tracking App, which allows parents/guardians to monitor their student(s) bus location in real-time. The free Edulog App and Clayton County Public Schools App can be downloaded in the Google Play Store for Android users and in the App Store for Apple users by searching Edulog Parent Portal and by searching Clayton County PS.

“We encourage parents and guardians to download the free Edulog Parent Portal and use it as another means of ensuring the safety of their children as they travel to and from school,” Dr. Beasley said.
