Planning to Retire Class Offered to CCPS Employees
Posted on 05/03/2020

The State Health Benefit Plan would like to share a great opportunity for those who will be Retiring soon

SHBP will offer for the first time, a “Planning to Retire '' class through our newly created Retiree Educational Sessions and Training (REST) program. This class will be very informative in preparing retirees for retirement. Please review this information and the attached Flyer. We encourage our upcoming retirees to participate.

The Planning to Retire class is geared toward Active Members, i.e., employees currently enrolled in SHBP coverage who are planning to retire soon. In past years, almost 4,000 employees retire around June 1st each year, primarily from Public School Systems. This class will ensure you have a smooth transition from Active Member status to Retiree status by focusing on how to effectively prepare for retirement coverage and what to expect upon retirement.

*All attendees must register at https://shbp.georgia.gov/REST by Friday, May 8, 2020. After registration, a registration confirmation with the link and phone number to join the class will be provided via email to the email address the attendee provided during registration.

What is REST?
The new Retiree Educational Sessions and Training is also known as RESTwas created by SHBP to have an educational program specifically for our Retirees and those Pre-Retirees who continue coverage with SHBP after transitioning from employment. In the future, classes offered through REST will include topics covering Medicare Part B Requirements for enrollment in Medicare Advantage Plans, Future Planning for Family Members, Annuitant Subsidy Policies, and other topics beneficial to SHBP Retirees.
