Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS), in recognition of the hard work accomplished by our nutrition professionals, will celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on Friday, May 7. School Lunch Hero Day provides an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals each school day.

As part of the observance, school nutrition professionals may be dressed as a Hunger Avenger on a school bus delivering meals to the children in the community, at curbside meal service, in school hallways or in a school’s cafeteria.

The importance and nutritional value of school meals are well documented. For many children, school lunch is the most important and nutrient-rich meal of their day.  From August 2020 to April 30, 2021, the School Nutrition Department has served 8,121,901 breakfast, lunch and snack meals to CCPS students and their families.

Clayton County Public Schools extends its profound appreciation to the district’s School Nutrition Department under the leadership of Ms. Audrey Hamilton, Director, and all school nutrition professionals for their outstanding contributions to the academic success and well-being of our students.
