Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) is pleased to announce that Ms. Shakira Rice, Principal of North Clayton Middle School (NCMS), has been nominated for a Rising in Community Excellence (RICE) Award in the category of Educator of the Year. The 11th Annual RICE Awards, sponsored by Carter Unlimited LLC of Atlanta, are given to individuals who demonstrate keen awareness about community needs and step into the fray, lending a hand and making things better. Selected by a panel of industry professionals, community leaders and everyday citizens, each nominee is a community leader who has used their position to develop or implement programs that have changed the face of our communities.

One element of the judging process to determine the RICE Award recipient is a popular vote by members of the community. This vote makes up 25 percent of the overall nominee's evaluation. Community members may vote once every 24 hours until Sunday, November 28. The voting link is as follows: www.thericeawards.com

CCPS congratulates Ms. Rice on her nomination and encourages all of its stakeholders to take a few minutes and cast their vote for Ms. Shakira Rice in the Educator of the Year category. Your participation will be greatly appreciated.
