Elite Scholars Academy Earns 3rd Consecutive Academic Decathlon State Championship

Clayton County Public Schools Elite Scholars Academy captured its third consecutive Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Georgia Academic Decathlon (GAD) State Championship. In addition, the team scored the highest points overall in Division I and II, earning the Howard Stroud Championship Trophy. Elite Scholars Academy, is the smallest school, based on its enrollment population, to ever win the Georgia Academic Decathlon in the 37-year history of the event.

Members of the 2022-2023 Elite Scholars Academy Academic Decathlon team who competed this weekend were Reyli Olivo, Delaney Reese, Deborah Gadri, Ellen Crews, Kristina Nguyen, Maya Uk, Nataly Barahona, Evyn Laing, Angelica Jones, Jayla Jennings, Kayla Sheriff, and Rodney Monette. The team is led by coach C. Jack Smith. It is worth noting, that this year’s team set a new school record by earning 32 individual medals, surpassing last year’s team total by five additional medals. All nine students competing medaled in at least one event.
