CCPS Issues Potential Severe Weather Alert for Wednesday, March 1, through Friday, March 3

Clayton County Public Schools’ (CCPS) leadership is sharing a report from the National Weather Service indicating that conditions associated with two potential severe weather threats may affect our area Wednesday, March 1 through Friday, March 3, 2023. 


The first system is expected to affect our area Wednesday night through Thursday morning bringing possible thunderstorm activity with gusting winds and the possibility of isolated tornadoes. The second system,  associated with a cold front pushing through our area, is expected to feature widespread showers with numerous thunderstorms. 


Families are advised to prepare students for the potential conditions by dressing them appropriately in rain gear, including umbrellas if available. It is possible that weather conditions may cause delays in bus transportation. If this occurs, parents/guardians may want to consider transporting their students to school as a way of mitigating the storm’s impact on their instructional day.
