The Clayton County Schools Performing Arts Center opened May 20, 1990. Construction funding of $7.5 million was provided by a school bond referendum and all operating costs are funded by the Clayton County, Georgia Board of Education. These financial commitments demonstrate strong support of the performing arts, both by the citizens of Clayton County, Georgia and the administration of the Clayton County Public Schools.
The first priority of the Clayton County Schools Performing Arts Center is to serve the needs of schools and students. However, community and state-wide organizations, along with commercial ventures, may choose to lease the Center for their functions. The most outstanding feature of this unique facility is the presence of three separate performance areas under one roof, with the ability to unite them into one main house. This versatility of design enables the scheduling of three events simultaneously or one large event.
