Recently, the Clayton County Water Authority (CCWA) Board of Directors celebrated a special partnership that has spanned more than 25 years with Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) by recognizing students for their outstanding water related science fair projects. During this partnership, CCWA has provided judges to the district’s Regional Science & Engineering Fair to select outstanding water related projects. 

This year’s projects came from McGarrah Elementary School and Elite Scholars Academy. 

Aaliyah Josue and Makayla Pena, fourth grade students from McGarrah Elementary School, were recognized for their project titled, “Why is Water Filtration Important?” where they learned about a major process in water treatment. 

Kyleigh Conley, a tenth grade student from Elite Scholars Academy was recognized for her project entitled, “The Effects of Water Locations on Dissolved Oxygen Levels” in which she tested bodies of water in a constructed wetland and a nature preserve. 

CCPS congratulates these students and their teachers for this amazing accomplishment and expresses its appreciation to the Clayton County Water Authority for its continued support and encouragement for our scholars. We also thank the CCWA for sharing this information.
